Description

This painting is the result of a desire to paint by feeling and intuition, trusting the process with out being too much in my head about how I wanted to paint and make marks. I recorded a video about the process of this painting as it evolved, and my honest feelings about it throughout, including what I learned about myself and painting. You can view the video on my social media and my YouTube channel.

My skull art is inspired by Mr Cox, a man my Dad worked for in the 1980’s who kept a skull by his bed in order to remind him of his mortality and to stay grounded and humble. This profound and unusual thing to do, made a real impression on me as a child, and has given me the desire to echo this enlightening reality about our mortality and living the life we want for ourselves the best way we can, through my own art.
